What is Invisalign?
If you are looking to use Invisalign in Plymouth then look no further. At our practice there are expert professionals who are highly trained and qualified to deliver excellent results and can tailor treatments to your individual and personal circumstances. So what exactly is Invisalign? Invisalign in Plymouth is a form of cosmetic dentistry which is designed to straighten crooked teeth. Essentially it does the job of a brace, but the only difference is that it is performed by invisible aligners, as is suggested by its name.
Why do people opt for Invisalign?
Invisalign in Plymouth is not NHS funded and therefore has to be paid for privately. It is therefore the more expensive option to go for as metal braces are free on the NHS to children and teenagers and, depending on the circumstances, to some adults. However, Invisalign is a quicker treatment and patients have faster results and therefore a lot of patients feel that it is worth paying for.
How does Invisalign work?
If you wish to have Invisalign it is best you make an appointment with our dentist and discuss your specific needs and requirements and they will be able to form a treatment plan that is suitable for you. The Invisalign process requires at least 2 appointments. At the first appointment our dentist will take impressions of your teeth and send this off to the laboratory in order for the Invisalign trays to be created. Once these are back from the laboratory the dentist will contact you for your second appointment where you will be shown how to fit the trays onto your teeth.
It is imperative that you follow our dentist’s instructions on how to wear your Invisalign trays and how to care for your Invisalign and teeth. Dentists will usually advise that you wear them for about 22 hours each day and only take the trays out when eating and drinking anything that is not water. You should also make certain that you brush the trays after you take them out to make sure they are clean and hygienic before reusing them. Also ensure that you are brushing your teeth twice daily.
Treatment plans usually last from between 6 months to 24 months. It is important that you complete the treatment and wear the trays as prescribed by our dentist in order to achieve maximum results. If you fail to follow the treatment plan your teeth may not be as aligned and straight as you had anticipated and therefore you may be disappointed or dissatisfied with the results.
